As an artist, every project presents a unique challenge and an opportunity to merge functionality with creativity. This project was no different. I had the privilege of redesigning the logo for Cheltenham cybersecurity conference – BSides Cheltenham.

The organisers wanted a fresh update. They wanted something in keeping with the logos of other BSides conferences around the world but with a Cheltenham-based twist. After brainstorming ideas for what represents Cheltenham (the races? the regency era aesthetic?) we settled on the local landmark – the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) building affectionately nicknamed ‘the doughnut’ near the conference. The final logo features a playful nod for those in the know and a playful design for everyone else.
